The
city of Adelaide – the dynamic and undisputed centre of
the booming Australian defence industry – will be the place
to be in November 2008.
The
capital of South Australia will host the Asia Pacific Defence
and Security Exhibition, which is the only fully integrated tri-service
international exhibition in Australia.
The
event will showcase an outstanding range of naval, aerospace and
land products and services – providing an unparalleled opportunity
for the major players in the Asia Pacific defence sector to see
and be seen.
The
Exhibition could not be held in a more exciting and prosperous
place.
South
Australia is home to about one-third of Australia’s defence
capital spending – along with a critical mass of top defence
companies and defence science, research and educational institutions.
Our
expertise in areas such as naval shipbuilding, submarine support,
systems integration, electronic warfare, aerospace and surveillance
has allowed South Australia to complete a number of major defence
projects in recent times.
Most
importantly, our State is today carrying out a whole new generation
of huge and complex defence projects – including the $8
billion construction of Air Warfare Destroyers for the Australian
Navy.
I
urge you to visit the Asia Pacific Defence and Security Exhibition
in 2008 – both to see the latest and best from our Asia
Pacific region, and to survey the terrific business and investment
opportunities now opening up in South Australia.
